Dead God in Repentance+: what it means and how to get a Dead God save file

Dead God is the last achievement in Repentance and Repentance+, number 637 out of 641. It is awarded for everything else, which is why people search for a “Dead God save file” instead of grinding it. Here is what it actually requires and how to get such a file.

What Dead God requires

The wiki lists the requirement as: unlock all the other achievements, including the four Repentance+ ones, and collect every item in the game. The achievement has no in-game description and unlocks nothing by itself. It is the Repentance-era successor of Real Platinum God (Rebirth), 1001% (Afterbirth) and 1000000% (Afterbirth+); Dead God on all three slots is informally called Infinity%.

In Repentance the old titles changed meaning: 1001% now means 275 achievements of any kind plus at least 510 items in the collection, and 1000000% means 402 achievements plus 510 items.

The four Repentance+ achievements

Nicalis answered the obvious question in the Repentance+ launch FAQ: if you have not completed your Dead God file yet, you need the online achievements to get it; if you already have Dead God, you keep it without them. Online co-op is still called a beta and can corrupt saves, so back up before you go online.

Completion marks are a separate thing

• Repentance has 12 completion marks per character on the Post-It: Mom’s Heart, Isaac, ???, Satan, The Lamb, Mega Satan, Boss Rush, Hush, Greed (shared with Greedier), Delirium, Mother, The Beast. Hard mode marks show a red outline and count for Normal too.
• There are 34 characters: 17 regular and 17 Tainted. Tainted characters have 7 unlocks instead of 15, so missing “rewards” for some of their marks is normal.
• All Hard marks with every character, Tainted included, is its own achievement, Death Certificate (636). Mega Blast and Mega Mush reward the non-Tainted set.
• Online runs keep their own marks, blue for Normal and purple for Hard; Nicalis stated they do not cross over to the single-player Post-It.

Items

The wiki counts 719 items in Repentance; 717 show on the Collection Page and three more (Recall, Hold, G FUEL!) are hidden but counted on the Stats screen. The wiki has not published a separate count for Repentance+.

Getting a Dead God file

Three routes exist:

1. Earn it. The wiki pages above list every unlock.
2. Download someone’s finished save. Files from unknown sources may be from Repentance rather than Repentance+, from an older build, or simply not yours.
3. Turn your own file into a Dead God one. Load any Repentance+ slot into Isaac Save Editor and press Dead God on the overview. The preset is modelled on a real fully unlocked Repentance+ save: all 641 achievements, all completion marks for all 34 characters in Normal, Hard and online variants, the item collection, all challenges and boss flags. Your statistics, bestiary and anything the preset does not touch stay as they were. Export, then follow the installation guide.
